The 2021 Sarah Raal is back to the roots: only grapes grown on ferricrete and made 100% in stainless steel. And we're happy to be back with the original one! No yeast or enzymes added, as per usual.
Pale lemon straw colour with a clean nose of unexpected linear purity of fruit, such as white peach, pineapple, apple and pear notes, rounded with a touch of chalkiness, earthy stone minerality. On the palate the layered complexity of mandarin zest, apple, pickling spices, white citrus/jasmine blossoms, grapefruit pith and a fine minerality surprise. The beautifully balanced acidity and the intense core make a wine that is fresh, crisp and elegant with tremendous depth.

The story behind the name: Sarah Raal belonged to a wealthy Boer and farmers family whereby her brothers and father went to combat during the Anglo-Boer War, and her mother and younger siblings to concentration camps. Being left alone, she decided to take up weapons and join the war together with the Boers against the British.
