From the past we know that Spioenkop has 3 different Pinot Noir blocks. In 2017 their wines were released as single block wines (Ghandi, Botha, Warren - all key figures in the Anglo-Boer War). Here we go back to one Pinot Noir where all 3 blocks are blended together: we learned that this gives the best results with ironrich ferricrete (forrest soil characteristics) are balanced out by the shale (floral).
Now the vines are at a coming of age too (14y old) and Koen has adjusted his wine making, which results in a wine of which Koen is very proud! Hence the Spioenkop label.

Subtle Pinot fruit flavorurs of ripe plum, back cherries, red forrest berries and the typical ironstone flavour... A lovely backbone structure with some black pepper, red rhubarb and pomegranate complexity. Well structured with a soft acidity and firmness.
